Thanks to the 15 volunteers who donated 36 hours of work in the VLC Garden on Saturday June 18th. Two new herb gardens were tilled and planted, some new veggies added to the main garden, and all of the weeding done! All of the produce in this garden is havested and shared with the area pantries and meal sites. They and the families they serve are so grateful.
Every month we partner with Human Services and are given information on a family in need in our community. June's family (a mom, dad and 3 daughters (15, 13 & 8) was a very special one. Dad works full time, but mom must stay home and care for the 15 year old 24/7 due to her seizure disorder and other medical issues. She is non verbal, but that didn't stop her or her families excitement when we delivered a new 'pink' wheelchair! They did not request much, but their were so incredibly grateful for everything that was shared. Boxes of clothing and shoes, a bed, dressers and bedding. 
With your continued donations of books for children VLC has been able to maintain the VLC Children's Free Library for almost 1 full year. We have been giving more than 1,000 books to children in need every month! Thank you for knowing that books in the homes of children can change their lives and for continuing to help to keep the shelves full with your book collections!
